Hi there, from my previous blog you already knew I would get a planned C-section birth plan.
When you know that your child lays in breech position, my only thought was to take the option that would have the least risks for my baby, I know I can handle more risk and therefore I choose to get a C-section.
The benefit of having a planned gentle C-section is that in week 39-40 the date will be set. The only surprise you can still get is that labor will start before this date and then you will get an emergency C-section. But not later, so the restless time of not knowing when your labor will start or when your baby will come, how long the labor is going to be, etc.…. disappears.
This meant that prepping for birth is calmer. I made sure I got my last pedicure, booked the cleaning lady, made sure the house was all set up, made sure my freezer was full of fresh juices to easily get more vitamins in. ( I will share my 2 favorite juice recipes later).
The weird feeling was that the night before you knew this will be your last night of just you two together and the next day your whole schedule will change.
The next morning, we had to go early to the hospital (OLVG East – Amsterdam – Netherlands). We got our own room with an extra bed for the partner to stay in, everything we needed for the baby and our private shower. Then we were ready to get our little girl. With the gentle C-section they make sure there is extra staff available to take care of both of us. The OR room temperature is higher set so it will be more comfortable for us and the baby. But also, to make sure one person only takes care of me and the baby, and making sure the baby always stays with me. She also makes a photo report of each moment, so you have amazing memories saved for later.
I got the epidural shot and the moment she came out the cover-up is clear so you can immediately see her, what is so unreal. Then they give the partner the option to cut the navel cord to get hem more involved and connected with the birth. What I personally think is such a beautiful moment to share with your partner.
They cleaned her for just a moment and wrapped her in a blanket, put her on my chest and she never left my chest until we all were back in our own room.
Here we have all the privacy to recover, heal and enjoy our little girl. This unrealistic feeling that you have a daughter, that she was created by her parents’ love and that she is so beautiful. This unrealistic feeling of true love for here, but also seeing her with my man made me fall in love with him all over again and even more.
You must stay at least 1 or 2 nights depending on how you are healing. With us everything went well and the next day we were able to go home.
Personally, I had a really good experience with this C-section. You can mentally prepare yourself for it, the staff was friendly and helpful and that made this a very beautiful and comfortable and calm experience.
Yes, you do miss out on this whole natural birth experience but at the end of the pregnancy I just didn’t really care about how she was coming into this world, just that she would be safe. And now we can start enjoying but also working hard on taking care of our precious little girl.
If you are pregnant and you want or need a C-section birth plan and have some questions or anything, please do not hesitate to write me a comment, or contact me true mail if you want it to be more private.
See you next time,
Ciao >_<
